In Salò, among the streets of the historic centre, stands a building that for generations served as a school and point of reference for the community. A place held dear in the collective memory of the town that now, after many years, is reinventing itself to write a new chapter in the social sphere. And so Corte Nuovi Orizzonti was born: a hospitality facility that places inclusion at the heart of its vision.
The project was realised by Co.Ge.S.S., a cooperative that has been working for over thirty years alongside people with disabilities and their families. An initiative built on a clear principle: every architectural element must be usable with ease, safety and independence by anyone. Starting with door handles, which cease to be a mere design detail and become a tool of connection between people and space.
This is where Freely comes in, the solution designed by Giulio Iacchetti for Dnd, as attentive to aesthetics as it is to inclusivity. With its sinuous and ergonomic silhouette, it allows for different modes of use: from a traditional grip to an elbow push, making the act of opening a door simple and natural for those living with a motor disability or a limitation in movement.
A project that Dnd chose to support with enthusiasm.
