Three large masks, designed to freely interpret industrial objects and expand the scenic presence of the handles, grab handles and knobs.
The handle thus becomes something else, tracing a metaphorical path that completes the meaning of a company and its products.
Through a process that harkens back to the concept of “ready-made”, it was possible to give a new reading to these objects, which surprisingly lend themselves to conveying the idea of a face: and so a knob recalls a clown’s nose, a curved grab handle a smile, and so on. Iacchetti’s idea, presented at the Salone, is to create a collection of masks to be entrusted, at the design level, to all the designers involved in the Dnd catalogue.
The first three masks on display at the trade fair also have names, as in Commedia dell’arte, in which each mask had a name and referred to different character traits. Thus, the three masks designed for Dnd are called Desiderio, Nitore and Dinamica: three names that emphasise, in the gentle game of evoking the company’s acronym, three of the company’s own values, that is, Desire, Clarity and Dynamism.
