A carefully designed and distinguished project, transforming a classic London Victorian house into an energy sustainable home. Without losing the original elegance of the dwelling.
The careful extension – on more sides – of a typical Victorian house has brought to a new life a house that, in accordance with the client’s wishes, is developed around real principles of sustainability. The fine design by the London studio Mitchell+Corti allows the dwelling to have the right amount of natural light, open views without loss of privacy, and natural ventilation.
Making a Victorian house energy self-sufficient while maintaining the exterior appearance of a historic house: a real challenge. “A-100” takes its name from the energy efficiency class: the goals of sustainability, air tightness and energy were achieved by employing a variety of solutions (external blinds and solar panels, hot air heating system, air treatment units, triple-glazed windows and doors, recycled roof tiles, natural clay walls).
Planted areas (which all the windows of the house overlook) and green “roofs” complete and enhance an architectural language with a very refined aesthetic.
The interiors impress with their accuracy: vivid colours, matching finishes, recycled and recovered materials, and a variety of furnishings and accessories made in Italy. Solid oak skirting boards and architraves surround the full-height doors, emphasising the bespoke joinery.
On the doors, Timeless handles in a bronze finish: tone on tone, completing a special and highly refined design.
The Timeless collection, designed by Marco Pisati, is an icon of the Dnd catalogue: a minimal sign for a handle that conceals its system in the rose.
