In the city of Bucharest, a project by Robert-Eugen Dumitru Studio featuring the (IN)finito handle takes shape. A harmonious dialogue between authentic materials, pure geometries, and design details that define the spatial experience.
Romania’s capital is a modern and dynamic metropolis, blending early 20th-century buildings with wide parks and gardens.
The project by Robert-Eugen Dumitru Studio was born from the need to create an urban retreat where calm and stillness define the style. The idea was to sculpt a quiet, orderly space using natural materials, where elegance emerges from deliberate simplicity.
Surfaces are clad in walnut panels whose warm regularity conveys a sense of continuity and calm. At the center of the apartment, the monolithic kitchen island — a strong, material feature — is made of natural stone, bringing balance and stability to the space.
The interior style is sober and contemplative, rooted in the purity of lines and the value of natural textures. Stone and wood engage in a tactile composition, while light gently filters through, turning each surface into a sensory experience.
Within this essential setting, the (IN)finito handle becomes more than a detail: a graphic sign, discreet yet powerful, merging with the door’s verticality and amplifying spatial continuity. Grasping the (IN)finito handle and crossing the threshold becomes a ritual — a silent passage connecting two worlds, reinforcing the project’s sense of otherness.
(IN)finito transcends the concept of a simple opening: its rosette becomes invisible, and the slim plate rests lightly on the door’s surface.
A nearly meditative gesture that accompanies daily life: an invisible thread that unconsciously carries us into a new dimension.
Designed by Alfonso Femia, the handle was selected for the ADI Design Index 2019.
Robert-Eugen Dumitru Studio approaches interior design as a dynamic and collaborative process, rooted in research, dialogue, and contextual awareness.
Each project arises from attentive listening and evolves into unique spaces, where innovation and aesthetic sensitivity intertwine with deep respect for the environment and community.
Sustainability, craftsmanship, and attention to quality are tangible tools to create atmospheres that enhance the living experience.
